FACTS: The village of Yorkville was settled by early pioneers in 1836. The school building was built in 1887 as Yorkville Elementary School. It was later changed to Yorkville High School, and now houses Parkview Christian Academy. The gymnasium was built in 1928 and still boasts the original hardwood floors.
ABOUT US: Parkview Christian Academy is committed to an academic standard which necessitates the students’ mastery of the skills and knowledge needed for life and work. Small classes allow teachers to give individual attention to students and to offer praise and help. Traditional teaching methods are utilized, including memorization, homework, tests, special projects and graded evaluations.
Teachers make the educational philosophy of the school live at Parkview. Teachers are personally committed to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, are dedicated to the Christian view of life and education and take seriously their example and influence upon the students.
Parents and teachers form a team to give each child a total education in mind and heart. The Bible teaches that responsibility for the child’s education belongs to the parents. (Deuteronomy 6:19 and Ephesians 6:1-4) The Christian school is an arm of the home to continue the Biblical training which parents have begun. Parkview supports and teaches respect for the family and for parental authority.
God is known as he reveals himself in His Word. Therefore, a daily period is devoted to prayer, worship, and Bible study. All subjects are taught in conformity to the Word of God.
The first goal of Christian education is to bring the student to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. |
